Duties
To provide programs for and promote the health, education and welfare of children and families through legislation, public information and education. Work with the staff of the Child Welfare program to develop a budget for the operation of Child Welfare Service. Develop local policies, which are not inconsistent with the State Department of Public Welfare policies for the carrying out of a County Child Welfare program.
Composition
The board shall consist of at least seven and not more than fifteen members to be appointed by the Commissioners Court of Nueces County. Term of three years, beginning on January 1st and ending on December 31st. Board members may serve more than one (1) term. Vacancies, as they occur, shall be filled by appointment of Commissioners Court.
Creation & Authority
Meeting of Commissioners Court on November 12, 1969 in accordance with the provisions of Article 695a, Section 4 of Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, such as Board to have and exercise such lawful authority and duties are conferred upon it by such statute and the State Department of Public Welfare. (Statute in Section 41.002 Human Resource Code).

Fourth Thursday of every month, at 12:00 pm, at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Law Library at 4201 Greenwood Drive, Corpus Christi, TX 78416
Terms
Three year staggered terms. Eight board positions expiring in December of odd-numbered years and six board positions expiring in December of even-numbered years.
