Biography

The Honorable Mark H. Woerner was first elected in 2014. He is a 1979 graduate of Vanderbilt Law School and served on active duty in the United States Navy as a Judge Advocate until 1985. Judge Woerner continued to serve in the Naval Reserve until he retired in 2001, holding the rank of Commander. Prior to his election Judge Woerner was in private practice, and has been Board Certified in Criminal Law since 1989.

Description of Office

Nueces County Courts at Law have jurisdiction over criminal misdemeanors, probate matters and civil lawsuits. Their civil jurisdiction is more than that of the Justice of the Peace courts and the same as that of the District Courts.
