Crime Victims Assistance 

Helping Victims Through the Criminal Justice System
The Crime Victims Assistance program was established by the Texas Legislature to comply with section 56.01 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure which gives victims certain rights in the criminal justice system. The Victim Assistance Coordinator assists victims of crime with the following:

• case notification
• criminal justice support
• information and referrals to social services
• assistance with crime victims compensation applications
• short term counseling
• court preparation and accompaniment
• emotional support
• information on victim impact statements
