Duties
To establish and maintain a Regional Health Awareness Board to assess communication models that the parties can implement to share information used in their health awareness decision-making and parties can use to receive and provide to members of local communities about life quality issues of concern to our residents.
Mission: To ensure that opportunities exist for quality dialogue by citizens of the Coastal Bend on the issues impacting health, safety, environment and life quality.
Composition
Six members representing a cross-section of health, environmental and social interest:
2 appointed by the City Council, City of Corpus Christi
2 appointed by the Nueces County Commissioners Court
2 appointed by the San Patricio County Commissioners Court
In addition, organizations appointing members are:
- Port Industries of Corpus Christi
- TX A&M Corpus Christi
- TX A&M Kingsville
- Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
- Region 13 (1 non-voting member)
- US Environmental Protection Agency, Region VI (1 non-voting member)
Creation & Authority
On June 25, 2003 agreed to a local agreement between Nueces County, the city of Corpus Christi and San Patricio County to Promote Community Dialogue on Regional Health Awareness (Doc #20030071) and the City of Corpus Christi Resolution #0025359 on June 24, 2003. March 25, 2009 an amendment (Doc #20090074) was approved stating Nueces County and the City of Corpus Christi would provide $31,000 annually and San Patricio County would provide $21,000 annually.

Terms
Each governing body will appoint one of its original community member appointees to a two-year term and the other appointee to a three-year term. Subsequent appointments are three-year terms.
