Judge Susan Barclay
Judge Susan Barclay was elected to the 117th Judicial District Court on November 8, 2022, and took office on January 1, 2023. Judge Barclay formerly served from August 2017 until her election to the 117th Judicial District Court, as Presiding Judge of the Title IV-D Court in Nueces County, with jurisdiction in Brooks, Duval and Kleberg Counties. Prior to taking the bench in 2017, Judge Barclay was in private practice, beginning in 2004 as an Associate Attorney with Corpus Christi law firms. She opened her own law office in late 2010, where she practiced in the areas of civil, criminal, family and appellate law. Before attending law school at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, Judge Barclay worked as a Registered Nurse for 16 years in cardiac surgery and critical care.
Judge Barclay previously served as President of the Corpus Christi Bar Association and the Coastal Bend Women Lawyers Association, including several years as a member on the Board of Directors for both organizations. Judge Barclay also works as an Adjunct Professor at TAMUCC, having begun that tenure in 2015 with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, where she teaches Health Law, Policy and Ethics.
