Proper Protocols

  • Keep the PIV card in the issued electromagnetically opaque card holder when not in use.
  • Remember your 8 digit PIN.
  • Use the PIV card for physical access to the Courthouse.
  • Treat your PIV card with the same care you would give your other identification credentials, such as your driver's license, credit card or social security card.

Improper Protocols

  • Do NOT write your PIN anywhere.
  • Do NOT share your credentials with anyone.
  • Do NOT alter the PIV badge in anyway. Do NOT scratch it, bent it, make holes in it or attach anything to it.
